This rifle originally was a 30-03 model that was modified to the 30-06 caliber somewhere between 1906-09. Blade front and adjustable ladder rear sight, with a Springfield barrel dated "05". Smooth straight grip stock with "NAS MIAMI" stamped on the comb (Naval Air Station Miami). Smooth flat buttplate with early flat top handguard, one bolt finger groove stock, and sling and stacking swivels.

Condition: Very good. The rifle retains 30% original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina. The receiver retains 40% silvered out original oil quench case colors, otherwise a dark patina. The barrel has a deep cut in front of the first barrel band and some minor spotting at the breech. The wood is also very good with some minor dings, scratches, and pressure dents, with a series of shallow gouges on the underside of the buttstock.
