Manufacturer: Winchester Model: 70
Manufactured in 1936, a year before Winchester officially offered its customers 9mm or 9 x 57 Mauser Model 70 rifles. Although the 9 mm Model 70 rifle was offered until 1963, this caliber was part of a limited production run. Today the 9 mm is one of the rarest variations of the pre-64 Model 70 rifle offered on today's collector market. The barrel features a hooded ramp front sight with the rear sight removed and a filler block added. The receiver is tapped for scope mounting and is equipped with a Lyman sight. Standard Winchester barrel and receiver markings including the factory proof at the breech and the pre-war two line address on the right side of the barrel. Polished bolt (not numbered) with a blue extractor and pre-war safety. The straight grip stock is checkered and has sling swivels and checkered steel buttplate.

Condition:
Very fine. The rifle retains 90% slightly faded original blue finish with some loss at the muzzle, some minor edge wear and the bolt handle is thinning to a gray. The trigger guard and buttplate have a smooth brown patina mixed with original blue finish. The reoiled stock is also very fine with some scattered minor handling marks. Overall checkering is crisp. Mechanically excellent.
