Early Production 2nd Generation Colt Single Action Army Revolver
Manufactured in 1956, the first year of production for the post war 2nd Generation Single Action Army revolver. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line address, the left side "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .44 SPECIAL" and the left side of the frame is marked with he two line, three patent dates followed by the Rampant Colt. The Colt "VP" proofmark is on the upper left front of the trigger guard with "P" at the rear and "5" on the right front. Standard blade front and frame notch rear sights, casehardened frame with blue remaining parts and fitted with two piece checkered grips with the Rampant Colt in in an oval at the top. Matching serial number on the bottom of the frame, on the left side of the front and backstraps under the grip and scratched in the inside of each grip panel.

Condition: Excellent. The revolver retains 95% original blue finish with wear on top of the hammer, inside the trigger guard and on the front and rear grip straps. The backstrap shows some minor flaking and some pin prick type pitting. The cylinder retains 98% of the original blue finish with a faint drag line, some high edge wear and some minor scratches. The frame retains virtually all of original bright case colors. The grips are excellent with a few light dings and handling marks, and sharp checkering. Sharp markings. The action is excellent.
