Early Pre-Ban Colt AR-15 Model SP-1 Semi-Automatic Rifle
Very early example of a Colt Arys Sporter. Manufactured approximately 1964-early 1965. The left side of the magazine well is marked with the circled Rampant Colt followed by "COLT / AR-15" and below that "CAL. .223 / MODEL SP1 / SER SP01674" and the left side of the receiver is marked with the three line address. The rifle is equipped with a three prong flash hider and bayonet lug, post front and flip up rear peep sight and is not equipped with forward assist. Mounted with a fibrite handguard, pistol grip and stock with a rubber buttplate. Complete with a black nylon sling, one early Armalite marked Colt magazine and an extra "AR - Sporter marked magazine. The rifle comes with a "operation And Preventive Maintenance" M16A1 rifle manual and a typed brief history and specs of the rifle.
