Manufacturer: Winchester Model: 70
Manufactured in 1937, the first year Winchester offered its customers 9 mm or 9 x 57 Mauser Model 70 rifles. Although the 9 mm Model 70 rifle was offered until 1963, this caliber was part of a limited production run. Today the 9 mm is one of the rarest variations of the pre-64 Model 70 rifle offered on today's collector market. The barrel features a hooded ramp front sight, an adjustable sporting rear sight and the standard Winchester markings on the left side followed by "9M/M". The right side of the barrel has the two line address. The Winchester factory proof is stamped on the left side of the barrel and receiver at the breech. The Type I receiver is tapped for scope/sight mounting. The polished bolt is number to the gun. The rifle has the correct pre-war safety. The straight grip stock is checkered and has sling swivels and a checkered steel buttplate.
