Manufactered in 1937, which is the same year that the 375 H&H Magnum caliber was introduced by Winchester for its line of Model 70s. The barrel features a hooded ramp front sight and an adjustable sporting rear sight. The left side of the barrel has standard Winchester markings followed by "375 MAGNUM", the first style caliber designation stamp for the 375 H&H Magnum. The Winchester factory proof is stamped on the left side of the barrel and receiver at the breech. Note that the rifle has an extremely rare standard wieght 24 inch barrel. Pre-64 Model 70 rifles in 375 H&H Magnum normally had a 26 inch barrel. The receiver is tapped for scope/sight mounting and has a polished bolt, which is numbered to the gun. The rifle also has a cloverleaf receiver tang and a pre-war safety. The straight comb pistol grip stock features checkering, sling swivels and a Winchester solid recoil pad.
