Featured in this lot is an early Navajo Ganado Hubbell Cross rug, circa 1900-1920s. The rug features a wonderfully and professionally crafted wool construction that shows a central whirling log symbol with Hubbell crosses lining the border of the rug and shows decoration of crossing geometric patterns. The color of this rug includes a grey field, with red and brown geometric patterns and off white Hubbell crosses. The Ganado style of weaving was established by Lorenzo Hubbell in late 1800. The motif generally consists of one or more stepped diamonds or stepped and embellished triangles. The overall condition of this Navajo rug is well preserved with no obvious signs of damage. The measurements of this Navajo rug are 81 1/2"L x 54"W. The thread count of this Navajo rug is 66 threads per square inch.*
