This extraordinary antique majolica jardiniere and matching stand features three-dimensional poppy flowers and stems, and stands an impressive 65" (5 feet 5 inches) or 165.1 cm. Diameter at the rim of the jardiniere is 17" and the entire jardiniere measures 36" across at its widest point. Purchased at auction at Fisher Brothers in New York over 30 years ago. Only hallmark is the capital letter "M" with crown above in blue on the underside of the base.

Possibly an early work by Minton or an early work by Jacques Massier (1806-1871). Overall condition is good, but there are about a dozen losses, most of which are old. It resides in Brooklyn NY and may be seen in person by appointment.
