This Pennsylvania deed for 500 acres to one Jacob Saltzer mentions the colony's founder, William Penn (1644-1718) as the land's original owner. The document reads in small part, "<I> John Penn Thomas Penn and Richard Penn Esquires true and absolute Proprietaries and Governors in Chief of the Province of Pennsylvania and Counties of Newcastle Kent and Sussex in Delaware Will Unto whom these presents shall come Greeting Whereas our late beloved Father William Penn Esq'r then Proprietor and Governor in Chief of the said Province did by Indenture of Release dated the twenty fourth day of September in the year of our Lord 1681 grant the Quantity of Five hundred Acres of land to be allotted in the said Province unto Nathaniel Evans of Barton Regis...</B></I>".
