Early Glenn Curtis Aviation Postcards,
lot of 44. Postcards from the early years of flight, mostly 1908-1918. Includes the "June Bug" winning the Scientific American Trophy, hydro-aeoplanes, the Flying Boat "America" and other Curtiss memorable moments. There is a postcard of Curtiss on his record-setting V8 motorcycle, the class of Curtiss's first flying school, and several important landmarks around Hammondsport, NY, such as the Pleasant Valley Winery (who hosted several parties over the record-setting July 4th weekend) and Keuka Lake (where many of the first land/water/air machines were tested). Several postcards also picture Theodore Ellyson, the 1st US Naval Aviator. Most of the postcards are by HM Benner, and have either his blindstamp or copyright and title in negative. Several have notes on the back as to who is in the photo.
A few postcards are light, but most in excellent condition.
