Unsigned (French 18th/19th Century) 1776 Fire at the Palace. This is a fabulous watercolor of the large palace ablaze showing several different perspectives with a bottom legend that reads ?Elevation et Perspective de Toute letendue du Feud u Palais dans Son Embazement?Janier 1776?? Overall it measures 19? x 25?. Condition: Examined out of frame - One margin crack to the side, some minor paper loss, very toned. I was very excited about acquiring a good amount of antiques from the Woolworth Family and I?m happy to present them to you. Here is a little history of the Woolworth Family: During the late 19th and early 20th Century the Woolworth Department Stores were one of the most famous names in department stores both here and in Europe. Everyone growing up remembers the Woolworth Five & Dime store in their town. In the early 20th century, one branch of the Woolworth family came to Maine and acquired hundreds of acres of land on beautiful Cobbossee Lake in Monmouth, Maine. Over the years, the compound has grown to approximately twenty-six buildings, some of which were filled with antiques collected all over the world and with a discerning eye.
