FIFA World Cup medal from the third ever World Cup in 1938. The final was held in Paris, pitting Italy against Hungary, resulting in Italy's 4-2 victory. Medal bears the stamp of designer Abel Lafleur, who also designed the Jules Rimet Trophy. His design for the medal incorporates a figure of Nike, the winged Grecian victory goddess, standing beneath the letters ''F.I.F.A.'' On the other side is a central rooster's head, surrounded by laurel sprig flanked text reading, ''F-F-F-A [French Football Federation] / Juin / France / 1938'', all under an inscription, ''World's Cup''. Accompanied by a vintage case, likely the original. Measures 0.75'' x 1.5''. Weighs 7.4 grams. Tarnishing, else near fine.
