<B>Early English Documents Relating to India.</B></I> An interesting lot of documents from the late 18th century including a commission document, 13.5” x 12.25”, on vellum, dated September 6, 1797, appointing Alexander Dow as colonel in the East India Company, the ink has faded somewhat but the wax seal is still present, the document has been folded and there is soiling the verso, else very good; and one page document, dated December 22, 1779, Calcutta, from a P. Francis announcing the expected arrival of a Mr. Bristow at Madras later in the month, paper toned with mounting remnants on the verso, small split at the closing, toned with the usual fold creases, else good. <I>Ex.
