Early Edo period Japanese iron oval four-lobes shape (tate maru gata) tsuba. The design features open work ornaments (sukashi) with 4 round openings. Only 2 openings are present in the tsuba, as the kozuka opening (kozuka hitsu ana) is missing. Diameter: 3.5" (9 cm.). Estimated market value: $2500. Provenance: Dr. Veleanu's collection, the author of the collectors' reference book: "Antique swords and daggers".
