This listing is a wonderful EARLY! compote in the Dresden floral pattern. The outer band is 1 3/4" wide with alternating reticulated (or pierced) flowers and cross hatched panels. The interior of the bowl is a beautiful Dresden floral pattern. This hand painted compote has a large yellow blossom and a red iris as the predominant flowers. The diameter of the plate is 9 1/4". The pedestal base is 3 3/4" high and attaches with a wing nut on a screw rod. The total height is 5". The backstamp is green. It is a coat of arms that has C BAVARIA S inside it. According to internet research, this is one of the earliest touch marks. It dates this piece ca. 1900-1927. CS stands for Christopher Schumann, the original founder of the Schumann factory and the father of Carl Schumann! The compote is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks and extremely minimal gold rubbing.
