Hand painted by Christopher Schumann, the original founder of the Schumann factory and the father of Carl Schumann! This wonderful reticulated compote is a very EARLY one in the life of Schumann porcelain. The outer band of the plate is 1 3/4" wide with alternating pierced flowers and cross hatched panels. The interior of the plate is a beautiful Dresden floral pattern. This one has a yellow/orange tulip as the predominant flower. The diameter of the plate is 9 1/4". The pedestal base is 3 3/4" high and attaches with a wing nut on a screw rod. The total height is 5". The backstamp is green. It is a coat of arms that has C BAVARIA S inside it. According to online research, this is one of the earliest touch marks. It dates this piece ca. 1900-1927. The compote is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks and extremely minimal gold rubbing.
