The lot features an exceptional set of early Vaquero spurs showing a double-mounted silver and heavy iron construction and dating to the 19th Century. These 1800’s spurs utilize excellent eight-point rowels, leather spur straps marked “Hecho en Mexico”, and an ornate silver double-mounting. The spurs are finished with ornate floral buttons on the outside. The spurs originate from the 19th Century and are truly a wonderful representation of early Mexican Vaquero Cowboy spurs. The shank shows a figure eight coiled rattle snake design with double-mounted etched silver holding the eight-point beveled rowels. The front side of the spurs beveled curved design shows a very fancy silverwork. The opposite edge shows a silver mounting of diagonal parallel running lines. These are some of the more highly decorated Mexican spurs offered similar in quality to the Beveled Band Mexican Spurs that sold for $2,500 at Brian Lebel’s Old West Show & Auction in 2008, the Charro Period Mexican Spurs that sold for $2,000 in Morphy Auctions 2018 sale, and the Personalized Mexican Spurs that sold for $2,500 at Brian Lebel’s Old West Show & Auction in 2008 also. They show good condition overall. Each spur - Without the straps, and hangers measure 3 ¾” wide, and 6 ¾" long.
