Crystal Palace Football Club pint tankard from the 1873-74 season. The side of the metal vessel is inscribed with the name of the team arcing over text reading, ''Big-Side-Matches / Season 1873-4 / Captains Allport & Neame''. Historical piece represents one of the original 15 FA Cup teams of the 1871-72 inaugural competition. Team captain Allport received the distinguished honor of being among the three FA members selected to procure the trophy for the first F.A. Cup. The team began in 1861, and following their instrumental role in the nascent FA vanished from record by 1876. The name was revived in 1905. Metal tankard features a glass bottom. Measures 4.75'' in height and just over 3'' in diameter across the mouth. Cracking to glass and discoloration to metal, else near fine given age.
