Early Colt flask, type found with Paterson carbines and early Dragoons showing bottom mounted triangular rings, Colts Patent in banner with cross rifles, pistols, and stand of arms. The flask shows a “WAT” inspector’smark (William A. Thorton), and remains in near fine original condition with 50-70% lacquer, a few minor dents, normal aging, and all original parts. These flasks were definitely used with the Paterson carbine inTexas, however significant evidence exists that they were also used with Dragoons even though they weren’t originally intended for that purpose. Pioneers and frontiersmen made due with what worked. Est: $2,500 - $5,000
