Early Colt Single Action Army revolver civilian series .45 long Colt caliber, 7 ½” Italic addressed barrel, traces of blue and case hardened finish, serial number 9049. This recently discovered Colt was found in afamily collection in the Bakersfield, California area. The frame and barrel show light cleaning long ago with some traces of original bright blue and case hardening where protected. The front sight has been slimmedand altered just slightly during period of use. Curiously the cylinder was uncleaned and shows 70% to 80% original blue with some minor erosion and pinprick pitting with no serial number but early lead in groovesbetween cylinder stops which is correct for this range. The barrel shows small British proofs on the bottom near the breech.The barrel shows early drill and tap holes for 1st type ejector rod housing with boss andstud with matching serial number on the barrel and the correct ejector rod housing, ejector rod head, early brass spring and early cylinder pin are all retained. The grips are refinished and are downsized
