Early Colt New Service Double Action Revolver, #3880, .455 Eley cal., 5-1/2'' barrel, high polish blue finish and fire blue small parts, Colt factory checkered hard rubber grips with lanyard loop in butt. Early latch and circular New Service logo, with case hardened hammer. Mfg'd 1900. Revolver was sold to Capt. A. Benoit, shipped to Lewis Bros., Montreal, Quebec, Canada, in April 1900, in a shipment of 353. Left sideplate marked ''B/23'', with factory hand-checkered triggerspur and cylinder latch. Condition is very good to near fine retaining approx. 85%-90% original high polish blue with what appears to be light general holster wear to high edges of cylinder and near muzzle area. Front and backstrap retain approx. 50%-60% original blue, with light to just moderate thinning and toning to rear area of topstrap. Case hardened hammer shows mellow toning and minor carbon spotting. Action remains crisp with very precise tight lockup, bore is bright and excellent. Est!
