Early Colt Government Model M1911 Commercial Pistol

Manufactured in 1920. This pistol has the correct early production slide that is marked with the Colt two-line, two block patent dates and address on the left side with the Rampant Colt in the center of the marking. The right side it is marked "COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBRE 45". The right side of the frame is marked "GOVERNMENT MODEL" over the "C" prefix serial number. The pistol still retains the original early Colt parts with features such as the checkered slide stop and thumb safety, wide spur checkered hammer, flat main spring housing, short horn grip safety and the long trigger with the smooth sides. The grips are the correct early checkered walnut versions with the diamonds around the screws. All blue finish, blue unmarked magazine and lanyard ring on the heel of the butt.

Very good. The pistol retains 40% of the original blue finish with thinning and minor pitting on the slide, high edge wear, a smooth gray patina on the grip straps, as well as scattered areas of smooth gray and a few minor scratches. The grips are good with some minor wear and pressure dents in the otherwise crisp checkering. The markings are clear. Mechanically fine.
