For auction is a wonderful early hinged gameboard that opens to reveal a backgammon board; when closed the top is an old checkers board and the bottom has the outline for a fox and geese game that was never completed. The two hinged boards are framed; the frame has chamfered edges and old nails. The two hinges are of different sizes; probably what was available at the time. The backgammon game pyramids have original old dry black and red/orange squares; the checkerboard has black painted and natural squares with wear especially on one side. There are remnants of white paint and hand plane marks which has made the wood uneven in places; I noticed a few old closed age cracks and some tiny worm holes in the frame. The gameboard box has a handmade closure; a sawtooth hanger was added much later. Closed, it's 13 3/4 inches square. It's an early make do piece that is sturdy, original, and charming. Shipping will be determined to buyer's zip code.
