Early Aviators Signed Photo
An Original Print of a Plane Signed by the Three Pilots Who Made the First Westerly Transatlantic Flight. One page, 36" x 26.75". On April 6, 1928, three early aviators named Colonel James C. Fitzgerald, Captain Hermann Kiehl, and Baron Ehrenfried von Huenefeld took off from Dublin, Ireland. Their goal was to become the first people to fly West across the Atlantic and they intended to land on Long Island. Thirty-six hours after taking off, they crashed in Labrador and were discovered thirteen days later after being presumed dead. An enormous original print of a flying Junkers plane signed by the three famous aviators, "Kiehl Capt," "Ja. C. Fitzmaurice Major" and "Baron v Huenefeld", on the lower border. The print, which was made to commemorate the trio's first westerly trip across the Atlantic, shows a small plane flying low over the waves. After their daring feat, the trio was honored with the Distinguished Flying Cross and they spent the next year touring. The gigantic print is in excellent condition and the signatures are very dark. The artwork itself is signed in pencil below by the artist Miller. Very attractive large display item with a popular subject. Also included is the 9" x 12" program from a 1928 banquet honoring the three, featuring Eddie Rickenbacker and other prominent speakers.

Important notice
