This is an original authentic framed needlework sampler dated to circa 1782. The piece shows several lines of the alphabet and number hand stitched / needle worked near the top. The lower portion of the piece has numerous unusual and rare stitched pictorial images including the Crucifixion of Jesus, angels, fox, scorpion, horse, etc. The piece is dated circa 1782 and has been in the same New England family for nearly a century. This is the largest and earliest American Needlework Sampler our company has offered for sale and is truly a rare authentic find. Similar samplers have sold at other historic auctions with provenance for upwards of $30,000. It has been professionally matted and framed with museum grade UV glass. The frame measures 19.75" x 36".
