This is a very early original needle point alphabet sampler by Mary Norie dated 1795. Marie Norie was the Great Grandmother of Grace Edith Warner Burnham wife of Walter W. Burnham. This is from the Anne Burnham Moore Estate, a direct relative of Elias Boudinot IV the fourth President of the United States Continental Congress in 1782-1783. The very early rare piece depicts several lines of the alphabet in various complex stitched patterns. The sampler appears to be in its original frame. The piece shows overall well preserved condition for being over 200 years of age. This is truly a museum quality piece. The Burnham family was from Providence, Rhode Island and were instrumental in politics, town founding’s, and other major events. Measures: 13 1/2" H x 13" W.
