Possibly, a Shoenhut doll, c. 1900 with moveable arms and legs.
The limbs are strung with elastic inside the body, so that arms, legs and head could be moved by the child lucky enough to have one of these dolls. The invention
of moveable limbs represented an entirely new direction for toys
and dolls. It must have been a huge leap from stationary dolls
to the new design which lets the child him/herself manipulate the limbs. It
made for endless possibilities.
CONDITION: Excellent. All
original costume and vivid paint. DIMENSIONS: 7" h x
3"w .
Anyone interested in the mechanical history of dolls, or
just the joy of gathering a collection will find this charming, very
simple fellow quite irresistable.
