Early 19th century pipe tomahawk with French style head and authentic to-the-period tacked wood shaft. The tomahawk measures 8-1/2" from bowl to edge; the blade measures 2-1/4", shows a heavy brown patina, good turning and workmanship. The shaft shows a worn patina with partial gasket remaining, some losses of tacks around the front and a proper drill hole and loop hole, and shows well aged tacks. The shaft measures 20-1/4", withtobacco bag showing quill work and pewter dangles, which has always been with it. Est.: $3,000-$6,000
