<B>Great Content Manuscript Entitled "Narrative of my Rafting Expedition with Th. Stevens in Spring 1831",</B></I> 8 pages, 8" x 13", n.p., circa 1831, being a highly descriptive account of a rafting expedition down a tributary of the Susquehanna River, beginning at "<I>Willcox's Tavern</B></I>" and ending at the "<I>Village of Port Deposit</B></I>" to transport a cargo of lumber. The narrative goes into great detail, start to finish, and includes the cost and actual construction of the rafts, the challenges of fording and running rapids, and the places visited along the way. A rich and graphic insight into the lumber industry in the early 19th century, as the Industrial Revolution is born.
