Early 1950's Bill McGowan Single Signed Baseball
Early 1950's Bill McGowan Single Signed Baseball. "Single signed?" you ask. "What about all those other autographs?" Well, we're sticking to our story, as each of the five autographs residing upon this OAL (Harridge) ball is rendered in the hand of the Hall of Fame umpire. It's clear that the three decade veteran of the American League was a far better umpire than he was a forger, but his Ted Williams, Mickey Mantle, Billy Martin and Vic Raschi impersonations are not without their charm. Of course it's his own signature that carries the greatest appeal though, placed alone on a side panel in the same 9/10 black fountain pen ink used throughout. McGowan's passing in 1954, a full thirty-eight years prior to his Hall of Fame induction, has resulted in just a tiny supply of surviving singles. One dedicated collector will fill a hole found in hundreds of collections with his winning bid. LOA from PSA/DNA.
