Featured in this lot we have a framed photograph of a Shoshone Native American Sun Dance originating from the early 1900's. The photo depicts a over a dozen Native American dancers in traditional garb as they perform the Sun Dance. Sun Dances traditionally consist of dancers accompanied by drums, whistles and chanting to celebrate the regeneration of the earth. Photos of Sun Dances are highly collectable as photographs are quite rare. The piece is set into a custom wood frame with a white border around the photo. The back of the frame is marked with a art gallery tag reading "Shoshone Sun Dance - Artist Unknown Early 1900's - Whistles,Drums, and Chanting make up the powerful roar that is the Sun Dance. The ceremony celebrates the regeneration of the earth. $650". The piece shows good condition overall with some light wear on the back of the frame. The frame measures 13 1/2" wide by 11 1/4" tall with the photo measuring 6 1/2" wide by 3 3/4" tall.
