Early 1900's Red Wing 3 Gallon Pottery Jug
Included in this lot is a three gallon red wing glazed jug originating from the early 20th century. Red Wing Union Stoneware, now Red Wing Pottery, refers to American stoneware, pottery, or dinnerware items made by a company that was initially set up in Red Wing, Minnesota in 1861 by German immigrant John Paul. The company changed its name several times until they finally settled on Red Wing Potteries, Inc. in 1936. The pottery factory that started in 1861 continues to the present day under the names of Red Wing Pottery and Red Wing Stoneware. The jug is marked across the front, reading "3 Red Wing Union Stoneware Co. Red Wing, Minn." The piece shows a glazed exterior with good condition overall and a chip on the neck of the piece. The jug measures 10" in diameter by 15" tall.
