Available for your bidding pleasure is this Early 1900's Railroad Fire Bucket. A fire bucket in that day would have been filled with water or sand which is used to prevent or extinguish fire. Often, they took a cone shape with a rounded protruding bottom. The rounded bottom results in a strong, directed stream of water when the water is thrown at the fire. This bucket would have been kept aboard a train to be used for any small fires that would have taken place. This bucket is constructed out of galvanized steel and is painted red. Written on the bucket is "For Fire Only" and the edges show some rust. This unique piece shows good overall condition with some wear. It measures 14" long with a diameter of 13" at the widest spot.
