Early 18th Century U. S. National Flag, Circa 1790 One of the earliest documented American flags in existence. Just two years after the government was formed and the Constitution was adopted, this flag would have flown during George Washington's first Term as the first President of the United States of America, which was still comprised of the original thirteen colonies. 13 stars, wool bunting, 44” x 75”, twelve stars in three rows of four with one larger center star, purportedly from the Old Sandy Point Light House, New York in 1790.

The lighthouse was built in 1764 at the southern end of New York harbor in New Jersey but was dismantled during the Revolutionary War to keep the British navigators from using it.
