This hand hewn pioneer cabin chair dates to the very early 1800's. Constructed of elm and hard rock maple, it came to the Preservation Project covered in thick brown paint, discarded from a farmhouse basement. Under it all was the original red milk paint, hewn-by-hand paddle back and thick slab seat. Project restorers left traces of the milk paint for your enjoyment and added new life with hand rubbed golden pecan/oak tung oil. A durable seal has been added so the chair, still very sturdy, can be used as well as admired. Can't you just see the primitive log cabin for which this wonderful chair was originally carved? As you perch on this pioneer treasure to gaze at a crackling fireplace, stoke up your pipe and imagine a simpler life!
