Manufactured in 1861. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line New York address and "COLTS/PATENT" on the left side of the frame. The cylinder is roll engraved with the Texas naval battle scene. The matching serial number is marked on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, back strap, cylinder, wedge and cylinder pin. The breech end sides of the barrel and the trigger guard are stamped with the letter "S" and there is a "K" on top of the back strap. The back strap and recoil shields are cut for a shoulder stock. Blue finish with casehardened frame and loading lever, and silver plated brass trigger guard. Fitted with a one-piece smooth walnut grip with a "GGS" cartouche on the left side and "RHKW" on the right side.

Condition:
Fine. The revolver retains 30% plus original blue finish mixed with a smooth gray patina. There is some minor flash pitting on the breech end of the barrel and the front face of the cylinder. The frame has 30% original case colors with the balance a silver gray patina. The grip is excellent with a few small chips and some minor wear on the lower edges, and overall a few minor dings and scratches. The cylinder scene is clear and the markings are crisp. The action is excellent. Writer has never seen an earlier example!
