Earl Norem - Original Painted Cover for The Hulk magazine #16 (Marvel, 1979). Riding high on the popularity of the Hulk TV show starring Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno, the Hulk was awarded his own magazine in 1977. Originally in a black and white format, the magazine soon graduated to full color. Blessed with covers by some of the industries top talents, this particular image of the Hulk in the midst of a panicked crowd was a real show-stopper. Norem, a painter primarily known for his book and magazine covers, contributes a strong, vibrant piece which perfectly captures the menace and the majesty of the Jade Giant. Measuring approximately 20" x 27.5" with an image area of approximately 16.5" x 21.5", the piece has some rather heavy glue staining in the border, which does not affect the art in any way. There is a small hole about .5" from the top edge of the piece, but otherwise the painting is in excellent condition. It is signed by the artist in the lower left corner. This is an exceptional piece, perfect for any Hulk collector. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour.
