Eagle Mining Co. Silver Ingot. 5.64 Ounces. These ingots first appeared in the numismatic marketplace in 1955. They were probably produced in 1954 or 1955 in order to circumvent the prohibition on gold ownership. This silver ingot has a fineness not found in nature, and there was no advantage in producing dore bars of 999 fineness. The top side reads: 999 / FINE / VALUE / $7.27 / Eagle Mining imprint. The short top side reads: SILVER. The back side reads: OZS. 5.64 / NO. 362. Deeply toned gray-silver patina.
Ex: Clifford Collection (Bowers and Ruddy, 3/1982), lot 216.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
