Hoyt Esq., the letter reads in part, "…If I am not quite punctual you can be entertained very agreeably by Mr. Bradford who will tell you all about the North Pole while you examine his pictures; or, you can sit right down and endeavor to solve the problem of Animal Locomotion by means of the plates, of which you will find nearly 800 awaiting your inspection…" Muybridge was responsible for developments in photography which eventually helped lead into the birth of the motion picture. He used multiple cameras to capture motion and he was the man who proved that when a horse runs, there is a point at which all four of the horses hooves are off the ground. <r The letter is in fine condition; usual folds are present; small stain in the center of the letter on the verso; signature is bold and dark.
