EXTREMELY RARE DELUXE NIMSCHKE ENGRAVED ULTRA
SHORT OCTAGONAL BARRELED COLT CLOVERLEAF REVOLVER WITH LOW HAMMER. Cal. .41. S# 1901. The 4 shot cylinder version of the Colt House Pistol or “Cloverleaf” revolver is very rare w/ a short stubby 1.5" oct. bbl. w/ half-moon front sight which takes up most of the room on the top flat so that “COLT” is found on left bbl. flat. Beautifully engraved in near full coverage by L. D. Nimschke. Nimschke utilized several motifs engraving this gun; in addition to his signature geometric crosshatching w/ punch dots, arabesque scrolls, rows of fish fins, wavy & zig-zag punch dot borders are employed. Revolver is entirely silverplated & fitted w/ smooth ivory grips. Letter of authenticity by Larry Wilson states this is a unique combination of 1.5" oct. bbl. & low hammer spur, only example known. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: original letter of authenticity signed by R. L. Wilson. CONDITION: fine overall. Bbl. retains virtually all its silver plate. Cylinder has traces of oxidized silver plate & is overall dark gray patina. Cylinder pin does not have knurled end and appears to be a replacement. Frame has 10-20% silver plate w/ balance of brass frame medium mustard patina. Hammer has strong gold plate in protected areas. Certifiable antique ivory grips are well fit, one small age crack & patina. Mechanically fine w/ crisp bright bore. (01-18837/JS). ANTIQUE. $8,000-12,000.
