You are viewing breathtaking, very ornate and unique Dutch Rococo style silver serving piece. This large and heavy dessert server with spring loaded mechanism is 9-1/2 inches long and weighs 198 grams (almost half pound). Detail of the hand engraved Rococo design is exquisite. This piece is well hallmarked (5 marks) and assayed at s'Gravenhage (Holland). VK crescent is the manufacturers mark of Van Kempen in Voorschoten, in between Leiden and the Hague (something like the Gorham of the Netherlands, a little smaller, but in the States of course everything is much bigger). The C in the helmet of the Mercury head refers to the assay-office of the Hague. The lion indicates silver purity of 835/1000. The key stamp in it tells that the tax was refunded by export and stylized "N" corresponds to date 1897. Excellent condition circa 1875-1900. Please note - this is solid silver - NOT silver plated piece, NO monogram. Don't miss out on this great addition to your formal dining. Remember, Holidays are just around the corner - ENTERTAIN in style or surprise your loved one with this beautiful gift! Please email for larger, more detailed photos. Please note that for Ebay Live Auctions only bids at or over $190.00 will be successful and meet our reserve.
