A grouping of photos with a bit of mystery. According to the family, Ed Tovrea had a dark room and presumably produced these pictures and while developing placed a number on each picture. Some, but not all pictures are marked Copr. H.E. Kious. Kious was at Stalag III for over a year. Without question these photos were taken with a smuggled camera. According to the family Ed compiled a corresponding explanation of the photos, in part reading as follows: "EXPLANATION OF THE ENCLOSED PICTURES WHICH WERE TAKEN IN GERMAN PRISONER OF WAR CAMPS" then a sub text as follows "NOTE: The enclosed pictures are not to be published in any magazine periodical or newspaper. The pictures have not been cleared by the War Department for such a purpose. All pictures are in the process of being copyrighted" It appears nothing further was ever done with the photos aside from writing the description, the photos detail camp life from Stalag III to Nuremburg. The description list 35 pictures, and there are 27 in this grouping. The family felt certain Ed developed the photos for Kious and after the film "The Great Escape"came out had hoped to somehow market them.
