In part, “<i>I am very sorry to say that my fading memory has no more of Miss Roberts...I am delighted that she should remember me, as I am delighted that you liked my life of Ronnie Knox. I enclose the full text of his projected work a paragraph from which interested you. I must have been mistaken about Stour. I thought it was part of a general education silence which included Canford & Bryanston</i>. [Theologian]<i> Bede Jarrett was very near the saints. Roxburgh (pray God I am wrong) lacked the consciousness of the supernatural.</i>..” Boldly penned and signed. Staple punctures at top left corner tip; marginal penned annotation in another hand; o/w VG. Accompanied by his personal postcard ALS “<i>E.W.</i>” postmarked at Taunton, Jul 31, 1966, to Heckstall-Smith providing answers to queries regarding J.F. Roxburgh. For his biography entitled <i>Roxburgh of Stowe</i> published the previous year, Waugh had drawn on Heckstall-Smith’s autobiography <i>Doubtful Schoolmaster </i>(1962).
