(1891 - 1944) German field marshal whose Afrika Corps threw back repeated British and American assaults in North Africa, later he defended Normandy and ultimately was forced to commit suicide due to his implication in the Hitler bomb plot. Uncommon partly-printed war-date D.S., 1p. 8vo., "Libya", Nov. 14, 1941, an award of a War Service Cross, Second Class with swords, to Lt. Hans George Conrad, a commando with Panzergroup Afrika. Boldly signed in blue grease pencil, with purple stamp of Rommel's office. File holes in left margin, otherwise fine condition.
