THIS WATCH IS ACCOMPANIED
BY ITS ORIGINAL ERNST ZSCHIESCHE BOX.
The present watch is with
no doubt one of the finest pieces of horology from the 20th century and by far one of the most important watches ever assembled in Glashütte. It is offered directly from the family of Ernst Zschiesche and has never before been for sale, neither privately nor at auction.
The construction of
the flying tourbillon, invented by Alfred Helwig, famous teacher at the Uhrmacherschule Glashütte, fulfilled the aim of building a tourbillon movement as flat as possible. The cage is not fitted between the plate and a bridge as with the regular tourbillon carriage but only secured by the lower bearing.
Under the guidance of Alfred Helwig only some 17 students were allowed to build a watch with a flying tourbillon. To the best of our knowledge only 11 watches have survived to our day. This makes the present watch an extraordinarily rare collectors piece.
