A bronze sculpture by artist Ernst Seger (1868-1939), an ethnic German from what is now Lower Silesia in Poland, active in Berlin for most of his career. The sculpture depicts the young David, future King of Israel and Judah, stepping with one foot atop a lion, playing his harp. The lion represents the Lion of Judah, the symbol of the tribe of Judah of which David himself was a member.
