1 1/2 SA CENTERFIRE REVOLVER. Cal. 32 S&W. S# 27612. Bbl. 3 1/2" ribbed with semi circular sight blade; notched latch for rear sight. Mfg. 1878-1892 within serial number range of 1-97574. Wonderfully engraved with gold accents and pearl grips. Finish is nickel with case colored hammer & trigger. Scroll engraving having gold intermixed on sides of barrel and frame plus gold bands at muzzle and rear of cylinder. Underside of revolver and top of rib not engraved as well as lower half of backstrap. Company info on rib plus patent info in V shape over cylinder. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Kidder presentation case having "PATENT APR 1854" within hinge area; void of Kidder name. Corners of both base and lid are reinforced with Kidder signature brass corner caps. Brass lock (no key) with shield pattern lock panel plus brass hinges having matching flathead screws. Maroon velvet interior in good condition plus 17 W.R.A. Co. cartridges in cartridge block (full count). Appears a light coat of varnish was reapplied long ago. Bottom wood appears to be pine or bass wood; sides of walnut and top is rosewood. Light wear to interior partitions. Rear edge of base has slight cracked area by each hinge likely due to inertia of lid going open too far. Simple ring handled cleaning rod appearing original to set. CONDITION: good general appearance with thinning and fading of plating. Engraved areas are very good appearing. Cylinder flutes (5) have distinct brown patina tone. Cleaned light pitting on recoil shield and both ends of cylinder; brown patina appearance at face. Slight looseness to lock up; generally good functioning mechanics. Screw heads have very slight signs of improper screwdriver use. Fair bore with distinct rifling having light cleaned pitting throughout. Near excellent grips. (01-22886/NW). ANTIQUE. $4,000-6,000.
