Brother of Bob, and member of the infamous Dalton gang of outlaws, who survived the Coffeyville bank robbery with 16 gunshot wounds, was sentenced to life in prison, and pardoned after serving 14½ years. TLS, 1p, 4to, Hollywood, Jun 13, 1932. With transmittal envelope. Good content. On his personal letterhead to Western author Frank F. Latta. Dalton writes that his intended trip to Tulare was not possible due to his “<i>physical condition</i>” and asks that Latta “<i>come down and just bring a few photos and any writings you have on the subjects we have talked about.</i>..” He continues, “<i>Writing for big profits seems to be a peculiar</i> <i>process. First one has to produce good material. Then it seems that one first has to have a reputation before he can have a sale and then he cannot have a sale without a reputation. But by you and I tieing</i> [sic] <i>in together I feel sure I can put your name on the tongues of half the population of the country, and that is what it takes to be able to demand the price</i>...” Boldly signed. Light paper clip and pin stain at top margin; light ink transfer of last name at right margin; light general toning; else VG. Dalton references his own literary success on his letterhead as “Author of ‘When The Daltons Rode’” imprinted at top margin.

11. All bidding is done in a competitive manner. The

acceptable bid for any lot is 50% of the low
estimate given in the item description or $25,

12. Payment is expected immediately upon receipt of
invoice. All accounts are payable to Signature
House. Payment must be made in U.S. funds. Wire
transfer details are available upon request.
West Virginia residents will pay a sales tax of
6% unless a resale number is filed with us prior
to the closing date. For sales outside of the USA
a credit card is requested.

13. Shipment is made via U.S. Postal Service or
Airborne unless otherwise instructed. Handling,
shipping and insurance charges are added to the
invoice. Oversize and foreign shipments are subject
to increased charges. All items are shipped

14. Golden Guarantee: All material is returnable within
seven days providing that it comes back in the same
condition. There is a lifetime guarantee on
authenticity to the original purchaser. The item(s)
must be returned with two letters denying it’s
