"Emile Zola" on the face of his personal calling card 3" x 2", Paris, [n.d.], to "My dear Calmeth[?]", in French. In part: "…You are very kind to make a good home to my old friend Paul Alexis, who is well in need of a shoulder. Thank you…". Fine, matted with an excellent Nadar cabinet card photograph of Zola looking slightly to his left. Ready for framing. PAUL ALEXIS (1847-1901) was a French novelist, dramatist, and journalist.
