ELKS MEDAL HANGING OF 1863 SIOUX UPRISING. Silvered white metal, 3.75" total length. Issued by the BPOE for their annual meeting in Philadelphia, 1907. This two-part medal issued to the delegates from Lodge 225, from Mankato, Minnesota and features an oval cello photo of the engraving of the hanging of the participants in the Sioux uprising of 1863. Thirty-eight Indians were hung, the largest mass execution in US history. Loss of silvering on white metal, still VG.
